An excellent interview with Avinash regarding analytics. From the page: "I was thrilled when Avinash agreed to do this interview since he is so well known in the web analytics field and I am a huge fan of his blog. "

"One part geek Olympics, one part community service project and one part race-against-the-clock—Sierra Bravo’s F1 Overnight Website Challenge will partner deserving Minnesota non-profits with teams of talented web developers for 24 hours of fun collaboration culminating in a fully operational website for each participating non-profit."

Two reasons why this is an awesome idea:
1. A short-timespan codeathon means you can donate your time without worrying about a gratis project blowing way out of scope. Anything that doesn't contribute to the goal needs to be efficiently nipped in the bud.
2. It supports the concept that a defined programming effort and a small team can actually accomplish a huge amount of work in a small amount of time.

I haven't tried this software out, but seems like a useful one. You can test your web designs in different browers.

FRITO-LAY'S DORITOS IS BACK AT the consumer-generated game once again. This time, it's partnering with Microsoft's Xbox 360 to let fans design an Xbox LIVE Arcade game embodying the spirit of the tortilla chip brand.

In addition to a $6,000 prize package, five finalists will get to work with Xbox LIVE Arcade development teams to build playable versions of their game concept, which will be available at the Doritos development Web site www.snackstrongproductions.com.
In late October and early November, visitors to the site will get to play the finalists' games and vote for the one concept they want to see developed for release. The winning concept will be developed by Xbox360 for free download in summer 2008.

I make screencasts at my job. I don't really like doing it. Molly's 'casts, though, are lovely -- and useful! DemoGirl's taught me more about internet culture than damned near anywhere. Thanks, Molly!

This is a Greasemonkey script that sets a time limit for surfing sites you specify. After you've spent, say, ten minutes on Flickr or Bloglines, a pop-up informs you that you've used up your allotted minutes and forwards you to a new page (the author suggests a photo of your boss as the forward-to page).
