"Planning a trip using Google Maps just got a little easier and useful. Google teamed up with The Weather Channel to create interactive layers that overlay weather data and radar information on top of Google Maps.
To use the feature click on the Google Maps' My Maps tab and select The Weather Channel feature to begin exploring."

Google maps has a collaborate feature now that will let you make a map layer that you can share with a group or even the world. It works like a wiki, so anyone in the share list can edit, edd or remove any data point.
I'm monkeying around with it and trying to kick off a worldwide map of hackers. If you code--or just pretend to--click on this link and add yourself and your hacker friends to the map:

"The Dimes Project provides several excellent data sets that describe the structure of the Internet. Using their most recent city edges data (Feb 2007), I created a set of visualizations that display how cities across the globe are interconnected (by router configuration and not physical backbone). In total, there are 89,344 connections."

Yesterday Google Maps announced a new feature that allows you to add maps to your blog or website just by copying and pasting a snippet of HTML. And once you embed the map, it has all the same functionality of the Google Maps; clickable, draggable, and zoomable.

Picasa is a cool new web app from Google that allows users to upload images to a location on a map. Great way to document vacations, suggest cool roadtrips, etc. It looks like it can be easily integrated with Blogger Blogs. Pretty cool

Ever since Google's Street View feature was added to Google Maps, people have been searching for funny or embarrassing photos that were captured by the Googlevan.
Here's a huge list of Street View sightings, including such classics as: googlevan reflected in building window, man caught exiting a strip club, dude breaking into a house, whoops - your thong is showing, and googlevan racing through a speed trap.
Have fun, geovoyeurs.
