Clients pay big bucks for sexy frontend designs but don’t want to be lost in ugly and unusable backends. Historically, many an administration interface had awful table-based layouts with complicated menus and unreadable data. It is time to reverse the trend: UX goes beyond frontend, and if we can code beautiful frontends, we should build beautiful backends too, all the more as backend designs are reusable. After Wordpress, Basecamp and the likes, here is an inspiring list of 10 sexy, though probably less-known, backend designs.

NYC-based folk-rockers Balthrop, Alabama post their first video online. Very DIY, very cool.

Crinoids are a relative of the starfish that are also known as "sea lilies" or "feather stars". They look like flowers crawling along the sea floor.

The culprit appears to be chromosome 21. Most people with Down syndrome have an extra copy, and it carries the instructions for a protein believed to play an important role in Alzheimer's. That extra chromosome shaped their brains and their bodies in the womb, and now it is shaping their final years, robbing them of the skills they worked so hard to learn, along with their memories and their personalities.
