Shankar Ganesh did a nice writeup of a few IM bots and how they can be beneficial from a productivity/utility standpoint. I was really excited to see that Meshly made the list.

Many sites want their site indexed in Google to receive more hits, so they allow Googlebots in. Because of this reason we can take advantage of this.
