Not sure what this is, but worth checking out. Apparently an ongoing fellowship program run out of the RAAC center in Indianapolis. Some influential scholars have been through the program.

A list of programs offered by the OS&RL at Oxy, including course development grants, fellowships for undergrads, retreats, research opportunities, etc. Could be some good ideas in there.

A real historical document, twenty-five years old. An extended, thorough profile of Thomas Road Baptist Church through the eyes of the New Yorker in 1981, when Falwell was just beginning to emerge on the scene.

Jim Janotti is a Christian blogger I really like, based in southeastern PA. Here's a copy of a sermon he gave on the prodigal son, focusing more specifically on the prodigal's elder brother. Very provocative, excellent writing, powerful.

Windows Media video of the interview. I have only watched a bit of it. Hedges is a smart guy ... but calling American religious leaders "fascists"? Hoo-ee, he's booted himself out of mainstream discourse with that one.

I couldn't bring myself to watch the videos. A profoundly disturbing tidbit. Thank you, Internet, for making sure everyone gets to see this kind of thing, and God bless you, naive first-worlders, for imagining that because it's online now, it's a brand-new thing and you can do something about it.

The New York Times has an article http://snurl.com/1iuvg ) in which a passing reference is made comparing the buying and selling of carbon offsets today with indulgences in the 16th c. GetReligion is pleased.

Via Religious Diversity News. The writing is sort of along the typical lines -- heartwarming, diversity-loving minority youth learns to stand up for what he believes in and fight intolerance. Interesting nonetheless.

A four-minute piece on celebrating Eid in Minnesota with Muslims from around the world with a visit to the Mall of America. Nice little essay.

This is the brainchild of vaguely new-agey theologian Matthew Fox. Described by supporters as "a new Reformation for the 21st century." I'm skeptical, but curious. Environmentally-focused spirituality with a heavily post-Christian flavor.
