"The basic idea was to build a computer hardware interface which is similar to an existing analog tool. An new interface will force new experiences. Forget about keyboard and mouse: with WiiSpray we created a new human computing interface (HCI). The use of WiiSpray is similar of using a real spray can – but without the colour and the toxic smells."

"Over several months, one artist put roughly 40 hours of Illustrator drawing work into a piece called "Science Machine." And over that time, he had his computer screencap the project every five seconds. The result, along with some B-roll and a soundtrack, is what you see in this video. And despite a few issues with Vista, he remains a loyal fan of the OS:'

"I built this Etch-A-Sketch (http://angelayuan.com/build.htm ) to draw out the time and then erase itself every minute. It was built on the Arduino platform and references several projects/sites including Ferguson's CNC Etch-A-Sketch and Jones on Steppers"

"For the fourth time in a week, an undersea communications cable has apparently been cut (or "failed due to a power outage," as some sources suggest), and while no official reports of subversion have surfaced just yet, things are beginning to get suspicious."

"Enter the Crowd Farm, the proposal by architecture students James Graham and Thaddeus Jusczyk to generate electricity by capturing the energy people create in such simple motions as walking, running or jumping. They envision a future city in which the crowds streaming through subway stations, sporting venues and tourist destinations produce energy for harvest."

"Mark Zuckerberg has announced today, at the Tech Crunch 40, that the investors at Facebook have created a 10 million dollar fund to support companies that develop on the FaceBook platform.

The fund is open for application to existing developers as well as start ups. They are looking for ideas that are innovative and disruptive. No formal web site exists; however, you can pitch your idea directly at platform@facebook.com."

"While it's still a teaser at the moment, John Nack (senior product manager for Photoshop) has confirmed the development of Photoshop Express. It's a free online photo editor that's not meant to replace Adobe's current offerings, but "make Adobe imaging technology immediately accessible to large numbers of people."

"The Internet has made finding a particular piece of music a straightforward process; simply knowing the title, performer, or composer can typically get you to the work you're looking for. But for most people, a key aspect of music appreciation lies in the discovery of the new: a previously unknown work or artist that is both appealing and fresh. Help for those looking for new music may be on the way in the form of a search tool funded by the National Science Foundation that is claimed to identify aesthetic similarities between pieces of music.
Search scene guru John Battelle pointed us to the NSF's funding announcement, which is a bit sparse on the details. Additional details can be found in previous works by the grant's recipient, including a peer-reviewed publication and a meeting presentation."
